2 Things To Take With You When You See An Attorney About Your Car Accident

by Richard Ramirez

If you are in a car accident, then you may have a hard time getting what you are entitled to without having to go to the step of having to go to court. You may end up having to hire an attorney who can help you get whatever it is you are entitled to. If you decide to hire an attorney, you want to do what you can to make it easier on them so that they can get through your case sooner and get you what you need. So, what are some things that you can do to make your attorney's job easier?

Pertinent Medical Records

One thing you can do is to get all the medical records related to your car accident and any injuries you and any passengers may have sustained. That includes records from every single medical provider that everyone had to see because of their injuries. The patent is entitled to their records at any time, so you should have no problem with getting the medical records. If you gather them up and take them with you to your attorney's appointment, it will save a lot of time and energy on your attorney's part because otherwise, you are going to have to sign releases for each doctor and your attorney is going to have to seek out the doctors to get the records. Go to your doctor yourself and get those records to take with you.

Witness Statements

Another thing that you are going to want to take with you is all the information you have about witnesses. Ideally, you have names and contact information for the people who happened to see the accident. If you were able to talk to them, you can ask them to write out a statement as to what they saw during the accident. You should also write out what happened from your POV, and any passengers in your vehicle should do the same. The more witness statements you can provide, the better off you are going to be. Not all the statements are going to be the same because everyone is going to have a different perspective of the accident and different thoughts as to what happened.

If you have been in a car accident, you may need to have an attorney so that you can go to court. If you do, then you need to make sure that you take as much documentation with you as possible so that your attorney can help you with your case.

About Me

Make A Great Impression In The Courtroom

Hello, I'm Phillip Kerr and I just love the legal profession and courtroom drama. Have you ever watched judge shows on TV? I know that these shows are not an accurate representation of the courtroom, but there is something you may have noticed. Some individuals come into the courtroom well-dressed, articulate, respectful and with the knowledge and documents necessary to support a case, while others come unprepared, slovenly dressed and appear as if they do not have a care in the world. How you present yourself and the knowledge that you have of the law will have an impact on how you are treated, even if you have legal representation. This blog is designed to assist those who are going to trial in doing just that.
